De Jong Shipping Group transports cargo via push barging, pushed or towed by our push- and tugboats.
These boats are also ideal for transporting floating cranes, barges, and other floating equipment, both for individual jobs and long-term rentals.
What is push barging?
Transport by push barge is an efficient and sustainable way to move large quantities of cargo across inland waterways. Push boats move multiple barges at once, saving fuel and increasing logistical capacity. This makes push barging an essential link in inland shipping and an environmentally friendly alternative to road and rail transport.
A robust fleet
Our fleet ranges from 1,700 to 5,300-ton push barges, with and without hatches. Ideal for storage, (bio)mass (bulk), and special transport.
Closed push barges transport, among other things, animal feed, grains, fertilizers, steel, and wood pellets. Open push barges are suitable for coal, construction materials, dredged material, and project cargo. With push boats, we move convoys of up to four barges at a time across Europe. We also offer floating storage, inventory management, and transshipment services.
